Welcome to your new house! Here are a few things you'll need to organise at the start of your tenancy:

 

Contact City of York Council asap to let them know that you are a student and exempt from Council Tax. If you don't do this you will receive non payment reminders from them and a very large bill. There is an easy on-line form on the City of York Council website for you to fill in.

You can also check your bin collection dates on the Council's website plus loads of other useful stuff - www.york.gov.uk

If your gas, electric, water, internet & TV licence are included in your rent:   No worries, we'll sort this out for you.

​

If you are paying for your utilities yourselves:  We'll read the meters for you and let you know your full new address, so you'll have all the info you need to open an account. Just choose which supplier you like best and either phone them or go on-line. Setting up an on-line duel fuel account is usually the best value.

Remember, it's best to pay regular small monthly amounts rather than have one large bill at the end of your tenancy.
